PROPOSED cuts to fire and rescue services which could impact on Haslemere has been branded as "a ridiculous scenario" by its union.
Richard Jones, secretary of the Surrey Fire Brigades Union, has criticised a Government-commissioned review that affects services in the area.
He said the report by Sir Ken Knight which called for fire-and-rescue services in England to be transformed and made more efficient and effective "horrendous and written with privatisation in mind.
"The cuts to the fire services are ridiculous," said Mr Jones "They don't make sense at all."
