BIKE owners are urged to check their front suspension forks following a safety recall, via West Sussex Trading Standards.
The forks affected are: Full Carbon Racelight T (RT); Racelight T Full Carbon; 12K Racelight T and the 12K.
These forks were all manufactured between 2003 and 2009.
The recall follows a tragic accident in Essex which saw the fork legs detach from the fork “crown” causing the front wheel to come off.
The rider involved died from multiple injuries.
Peter Aston, Trading Standards team manager, said: “We’re highlighting this particular recall as the importer has found it very difficult to find the products owing to the length of time since they were sold and as they were very often bought as replacement parts.
David Barling, West Sussex County Council’s cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “The priority here is to prevent loss of life.
“Our trading standards team are working closely with the company to ensure they do all they can to reach those who have bought these forks and get them returned.”

Mr Barling added: “If your bike has been affected by the recall, we advise you to stop using it immediately and contact Upgrade Bikes on (01403) 711611, (press option 4).”
