HASLEMERE came together for this year’s Remembrance Sunday service to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The High Street, which was closed to traffic from the town hall down to West Street, was packed with people as the community came out in force to pay its respects to the fallen.
After a service of Remembrance at St Bartholomew’s Church at 10am, the procession made its way to the war memorial on the High Street.
The parade was in place by 10.55am, for a welcome and introduction at the memorial.
A bugler played The Last Post, before the two minutes silence at 11am.
Haslemere Town Band played an introduction, and wreaths were laid.
The mayor of Haslemere, Cllr Simon Dear, laid the first wreath and then read out the names of the fallen while the other wreaths were laid.
Wreaths were laid by South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt, Waverley mayor Cllr John Robini, and representatives of the regular forces, territorial and reserve forces and ex-Service associations.
Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the police, fire brigade and ambulance services, St John Ambulance, the Red Cross, cadet forces, youth organisations and members of the public.
Cllr Dear then took the salute before the parade marched off and was dismissed at Haslemere Hall.
