WHEN Haslemere mayor John Robini and mayoress Jacqui Keen happened to see the youngest volunteer at work for Haslewey community centre, they decided the helpful toddler definitely deserved a thank-you present.
Manager Kerry Morren-Jeffs said: “We have a young mother who delivers community meals with her two-year old son ‘Little Tony’ on a Tuesday lunchtime to Homegreen sheltered housing.
“The mayor and mayoress happened to be in the coffee shop at Haslewey and saw Tony going out to deliver meals.
“They told me they would like to present him with a small gift in recognition of him being the youngest volunteer they have ever met.
“The mayor visited Haslewey this week to present Tony with his present.
“Tony loved his Paws Patrol gift for helping his mum Andrea to deliver meals every week. ”
More volunteers are always welcome to help deliver community meals to vulnerable people in Haslemere, Grayshott, Grayswood, Witley and Milford.
Anyone who can help from one hour a week up to several times a week to clients who depend on the service is invited to apply.
