Farnham Maltings’ new Take Part Fair is “a chance for local groups to encourage new participants to join their activities and for residents, particularly those new to the area, to find out more about opportunities to volunteer and become involved with their community”.

That’s according to the Maltings’ senior producer Katy Potter, speaking ahead of the event, taking place from 3pm to 7pm next Tuesday, September 12.

Previously known as Refreshers: A Festival Of Retirement, the Take Part Fair is an expanded and inclusive event open to all showcasing social and creative activities in the Farnham area. Entry is free. See the Maltings’ website for details.

“The Take Part Fair shows off the large and varied amount of leisure and social opportunities in the area, and not just those we host here at the Maltings,” contineud Katy.

Visitors will have the chance to meet like-minded people and enjoy free drop-in taster sessions, learn about volunteer opportunities, and discover many ways to be involved in the local community from museums and music groups to libraries, charities community centres and more.

Over 20 organisations will be represented at the take part fair including: Watts Gallery, Farnham U3A, Basingstoke Canal Society, Care Farnham, Shuffletunes, Farnham Lions Club, Rushmoor 'Odd Fellows' Male Voice Choir, Surrey Wildlife Trust, Hoppa Community Transport, The Cinnamon Trust, and more.

Details on all participating organisations are now available on the Farnham Maltings website.

Free entry, no booking required.
