A MAJOR fundraiser for Haslemere-based charity Melanie Braysher Trust is hanging up his running shoes.

Liam Humphrey, a pillar of support since 2014, bowed out on a high after completing his first London Marathon this year.

He achieved his ultimate goal in a very creditable four hours 19 minutes, dressed as a white rabbit.

Over the years, Liam has competed for the trust in events ranging from the Brighton Half and Full Marathon, Chichester Half, Worthing Half, Berlin, Fussen and Bracelona marathons, to the Great South Run. His personal best for a full marathon is 3hours 59mins and 02 secs.

By rising to the challenge time and time again, the Haslemere man has raised a staggering £3,307.95 for the charity, which provides mobility equipment to disabled children and young people to help them become more independent.

A trust spokesman said: “We are truly grateful for the contribution Liam has made. We really appreciate all the hard work and dedication over the last few years and have thoroughly enjoyed watching him compete.

“Liam’s support has allowed us to continue helping local children and young people with the mobility equipment they need.

“Liam (pictured) is now putting all of his energy into planning his next big event, his marriage to Lena next June. We wish them both all the best for their future together.”
