MORE than 40 objections have been submitted to an application to East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) for five affordable homes on previously-approved allotment gardens in addition to 80 new homes under construction at Applegarth Vale, Grayshott.

Objectors have protested the move by Applegarth Vale developers Cala Homes would undermine the key countryside “local gap” between Grayshott and Headley Down.

Grayshott Society has called for the plan to be refused, stating it is supportive of affordable housing but in the centre of the village.

The society said: “The proposed development contradicts EHDC’s specific planning conditions imposed on Applegarth Vale.

“It reduces the green space that formed such a significant part of Cala’s argument for approval of this ‘exception’ site.

“It is not supported by a local need for such units.

“It threatens the Local Gap which is valued by so many people.”
