GRAYSHOTT has a new community of nuns. Four sisters, who will be joined by one or two more in the coming months, are living at Harvey House, belonging to the village’s St Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

The Sisters of Maria Stella Matutina (Mary of the Morning Star) was founded in Spain, and already has 225 sisters worldwide, representing almost 20 different nationalities. The nuns are Sister Florence Laetitia (Superior), Sr Therese Joseph, Sr Rebekah Marie and Sr Dominyka.

Father Thom Amungwa, parish priest for Sacred Heart, Bordon, and St Joseph, Grayshott, said: “These religious nuns live a purely contemplative life with no other apostolate than that of prayer and presence. Even though contemplative, they are not enclosed.

In our parish, and pastoral area, they will participate and dedicate their prayer for the new evangelisation. Their presence will contribute much to our evangelistic efforts in the parish, pastoral area and diocese as a whole. Let us pray for their successful stay among us.”
