RAIL users will face a fares increase of around 4.1 per cent in the new year after new inflation figures were revealed.

Campaigners protested at 50 train stations across the country on Tuesday against the rise of fares compared with average earnings.

A spokesman for the Haslemere Rail Users' Group said the body was "outraged" by the decision.
