MAKING ‘Peter Rabbit’ ears and ‘Flopsy Bunnies’ tails, were some of the most popular activities at an action-packed morning to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth.

More than 120 children and many adult fans turned out to enjoy the event devoted to one of England’s most popular children’s authors and illustrators.

Craft activities on offer also included colouring sessions, while Haslemere Bookshop members gave readings, and visitors could also enjoy a garden trail featuring favourite Beatrix Potter characters, devised by Haslemere Visitor Information Centre.

Volunteers manned the tea room and provided cakes and refreshments throughout the morning. The event was jointly organised by the museum’s education officer Kay Topping and the visitor information centre.

Antoinette Francis, from the visitor information centre, said: “We were delighted to be involved in the organisation of this event.

“It proved to be enormously popular. It is always wonderful to see all the families enjoying themselves and the children really getting involved with the arts and crafts and above all having a wonderful experience at the museum.”
