POLICE have confirmed that the elderly woman hit by a lorry in Haslemere on Wednesday afternoon has died.

An air ambulance called to the scene, opposite Lion Green in Wey Hill, took the pedestrian to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police, who sealed off the Wey Hill area while medics attended, have opened an investigation into the incident. Witnesses are asked to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference number P15266483.
