A FILM about the longest-running road race in the world and the wealthy Sicilian industrialist behind it, will be screened at Haslemere Hall, later this month, in aid of local charity Action for A-T.
Venetian historian Francesco da Mosto invites British racing car driver Alain de Cadenet to join him in his quest to discover what compelled so many men and women to seek glory in the death-defying Sicilian mountain road race, Targa Florio, which ran from 1906 to 1977.
The documentary film Pistons, Passions and Sicilian Pleasures’set in the original unchanged 92-mile circuit, recreates episodes from creator Vincenzo Florio’s and features 11 racing cars built before 1919.
Hindhead classic car specialists H&H Classics, East Horsley-based Classic GT Tours and film maker Upfolds Media are sponsoring the screening to raise money for research into the life-limiting condition through ticket sales, sales of the film DVD, a raffle and other donations.
