PLANS for a change of use to historic farm outbuildings to create six new homes were approved by Waverley planners last week.

The proposed dwellings at Grade II listed Tigbourne Farm, in New Road, Wormley have been named ‘The Oat Barn’, ‘Wheat Barn’, ‘Granary, ‘Dutch Barn’, and ‘Dairy Parlour A and B’.

The application was supported by Witley Parish Council but opposed by seven residents, who complained it would destroy the layout and structure of a historic farm.

Waverley central area planning committee backed their officer’s recommendation the plan should be granted.

• Officers concluded that as the external character and appearance of the barns would be retained, the scheme would preserve the character of the Grade II listed buildings and preserve the character of the area of outstanding natural beauty and great landscape value.

• At the same meeting, an application to build 20 new homes on part of Wheeler Street Nurseries in Witley was deferred for a site visit.
