PRESSURE is mounting on the South Downs National Park Authority to refuse Celtique Energie's application to test drill at Fernhurst for shale oil, as decision day looms. Greenpeace activists mounted an anti-fracking demonstration in front of the new national park authority headquarters in Midhurst last Thursday as members arrived for a full authority meeting. Celtique Energie hoped its application would be determined on what it claimed was the "agreed date" of July 10. The authority will only confirm the agenda for its planning committee five working days in advance of the meeting, but it is expected to go to committee in August or September.
