THE PRINCE of Wales at Hammer Vale hosted a charity quiz night to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK.

The quiz was organised by Peter and Ann Varnes – with the help of Nick and Becky at The Prince of Wales.

The evening included a meal, prepared by Nick, before the quiz got under way.

Twelve teams battled it out to win first prize. The Good Luck Team, which was made up of two cricket teams – Hammer Bottom Busters and Lynchmere Cricket Club – won the cash prize. They beat the second-placed team, The Quizzie Rascals, by half a point.

Recognising the importance of the reason for the quiz night, The Good Luck Team donated its winning cash prize back to Parkinson’s UK.

An additional bonus quiz round was won by The Dreamers, whose efforts were rewarded with six bottles of wine.

A number of businesses, including R Miles and Son, Marley Flowers, Camelsdale Tea Rooms, Tesco, Fontwell Park and Hampshire County Cricket Club, had donated raffle prizes for the evening and taken up the opportunity of sponsoring a quiz round and providing a question specific to their business.

A £205 donation from Nick and Becky at The Prince of Wales took the fundraising total to £500 for Parkinson’s UK.
