A FLAMING procession of 400 torches illuminated the sky before this year's Chiddingfold bonfire was lit.

The launch site for the fireworks kept everybody guessing until the last minute and crowds were then treated to a fantastic firework display culminating in an amazing finale.

"The weather was extremely kind and made for a great evening," said vice-chairman Ian Travis of the bonfire committee.
