CAMELSDALE Primary School did a clean sweep to mark the ‘Great British Spring Clean’.

Parents, pupils, staff and governors also got stuck in as part of Camelsdale’s termly Groundforce Day, last Saturday, tidying the grounds after the winter, by emptying compost bins and planting up new spring tubs of flowers.

The school’s bird hide, Memory Garden and Secret Garden also received some tender loving care, too.

Camelsdale’s eco school champion Julie Brownbill led a working party of children around the village to do a litter pick.

“It is important that we talk to the children about litter as well as develop citizens of the future who know not to litter drop,” Mrs Brownbill said.

“Camelsdale holds regular assemblies on such topics. The children did a great job and enjoyed using our litter pickers and filling the bag. It was quite amazing how much we collected. The children hope we all remember not to drop litter but use bins and take rubbish home.”
