A RECORD crowd enjoyed Camelsdale Primary School Fair, which was officially opened by Haslemere Deputy Mayor Malcolm Carter, on Saturday.
The popular event mounted by the PTA is one of the biggest annual fundraisers to benefit the school and the proceeds from this year’s event will go towards fitting out the school’s new kitchen and dining room when it is built.
The fair’s theme was Rio Olympics 2016 and visitors enjoyed performances by the school dance club and its newly-formed band, bouncy castles, skittles, hoop-la and speed goal among a host of attractions.
“This is one of our biggest annual fundraisers and it was the busiest yet,” school administrator and former PTA chairman Delia Dallinger said.
“We were very lucky with the weather. The sun shone down on us and the plant stall put Chelsea Flower Show to shame.
“Five mums from Lemurs class were the organisers, Nicola Mahon, Lisa Freeman, Lisa Langridge, Sophie Tanner and Jo Lang, and they were wearing Rio T-shirts.”
