The FA wants to get 120,000 more girls playing football on the back of the Lionesses’ Euro 2022 win – and for those seeking to lace up locally,  the Herald has compiled a list of girls’ teams in the area.

Following the England women’s team’s victory at Wembley last Sunday, even the Queen announced the side has “set an example that will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations”.

And the FA now plans to get 120,000 more girls playing football in wake of the Lionesses’ success, unveiling plans to boost grassroots football and inclusion over the next 18 months.

But handily for girls and women looking to join a football club locally, there are already many existing options, some of which are:
