It's that time of year again when the Rotary Clubs of Farnham invite schools and youth groups to enter a team in the annual Youth Speaks debating competition.

This is a national event and the winners of the local competition will qualify for the next round.

The aim of Youth Speaks is to give young people confidence to speak in public and debate a topic of their team’s choice.

Last year Weydon School in Farnham and Eggars School in Alton were the winning teams.  This year the event will be held, as previously, at the UCA in Farnham and the date is January 17.

If your youth group or school would like to enter, email [email protected] for an application form and full details of the competition.

There are two age groups, Intermediate for ages 11 to 13, and Senior for ages 14 to 17, and groups and schools can enter one or both.

Groups and schools need to choose their team members (three in each team) and subject to debate and return these details by December 1.

The Rotary Club can’t accept late entries after that date.
