SPANISH students joined forces with Camelsdale Primary School pupils in a skipping session that helped to raise £187 for last month’s Sport Relief appeal.

This year’s action-packed six-day visit by 26 pupils and three staff members from Camelsdale’s international exchange school in Burgos, Spain, also included Sport Relief-related activities.

As well as joining lessons and attending Forest School, the group also visited Haslemere Museum and enjoyed a day trip to London with a flight on the London Eye and a boat cruise down the River Thames.

At Friday’s skipping workshops, pupils learned several new tricks and their Spanish friends were each presented a solar skipping rope in the special farewell assembly.

Headteacher Sarah Palmer said: “This is the 12th year of our special link with Burgos. A huge thank-you must go to the 13 Camelsdale families, who hosted the pupils in pairs and made them feel so welcome in their homes.

“The children and staff had a wonderful time.

“The link gives a real purpose to learning Spanish in school and to developing greater cultural awareness. Year six pupils now look forward to returning to Burgos in May for their week.”
