WILLIAM ‘Spiderman’ Bremner is on the run again, this time running a half-marathon at Silverstone race track next weekend, in aid of the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.

William, 65, who has cerebral palsy, has raised thousands of pounds for charities through his runs.

Known for running around Haslemere wearing his trademark silly hats and dressed as Spiderman during his charity capers, has been doing sponsored runs since he was 34, in 1986.

“My very first organised run was for Sport Aid at Folkstone, Kent, and I also raised £149.75 for African famine relief – mind you I was running long before that. The Rainbow Trust does a fantastic job looking after families who have very seriously ill children, sometimes with life-treatening illnesses,” he said.

After the Silverstone half-marathon on March 12, he plans to take part in the Bournemouth half-marathon in October, and next year he is hoping to undertake the Isle of Wight Challange, which consists of a 65-mile “do your own thing”, either walking, jogging or running.

“I am looking forward to all of these,” he said.
