MODFATHER Paul Weller’s old drummer Steve White rocked Simon Cracknell from The Yamaha Music Works, in Milford, with a master class.

Acclaimed as one of the greatest and most influential drummers of his generation, Steve has played with many iconic British artists and bands, including Style Council and throughout Weller’s solo career as well as with The Who, Oasis, Ian Dury and Deep Purple’s Jon Lord.

One of only four musicians to have played at both Live Aid and Live 8, the debut album ‘Electric Blend’ by his new band ‘The Family Silver’, entered the top 20 of the iTunes Rock Chart last week.

Music Works drum teacher Simon, was one of 20 of the UK’s leading Yamaha drum teachers who attended ‘Drum Encounters Day’, an intensive and interactive day of advanced teacher training from Steve at Yamaha’s headquarters in Milton Keynes.

Steve’s performed a virtuoso 25-minute drum solo that embraced every imaginable style to launch the eight-hour tutorial and, after completing the training successfully, Simon was presented with a signed certificate.

“It was great to meet Simon, who was so enthusiastic, to consolidate and share his knowledge and skills,” Steve said.

“It’s going to be a great future for anyone learning drums at The Music Works.”

The Yamaha Music School at The Music Works has been equipped with a special studio containing a mixture of live kits and practice pads.

The course uses a variety of modern materials to cover a wide range of popular musical styles, and all levels of experience are catered for.

The course is fully accredited by Rock School and students can take exams from grade one to grade eight standard.

From grade six and above examination results also count towards UCAS entry.
