MOE than 100 players from all over the south of England took part in Haslemere Tennis Club’s annual LTA Junior Tournament.

Over the week, 203 matches and a total of 3,088 games were played at the annual event, which is a regular feature on the Lawn Tennis Association’s calendar, and was once again sponsored by Sports Locker.

“Players ranged in age, from 10 to 18, and in ability,” mixed captain Marie Buckley said. “Some were experiencing competition for the first time, others were seasoned regulars on the competition circuit.

“However, the most striking feature of this tournament was the good humour and generous spirit displayed by all the participants, their families and spectators, which created a wonderful sporting atmosphere.

“The event was superbly organised by Tony and Beryl Bishop along with their legion of volunteers. Haslemere Tennis Club would like to thank Tony, Beryl, Sportslocker and all of the volunteers for their continued support and hard work in making this event such as success.”
