THE sun was shining on adults and children who got into the spirit of the start of the Olympic Games by taking part in a charity triathlon at Highfield School, raising close to £200 for Dreams Come True.
Liphook-based multi-sports club Tri-High organised the event led by Barnaby Gray. It gave competitors of all ages and abilities the chance to give “tri a try”.
The youngest competitors were just five years old and did fantastically well managing to swim, bike and run their way to the finish line.
The fun-filled charity event took place in the relaxed and friendly environment of Highfield School, in Highfield Lane.
Volunteers from a programme called ‘The Challenge’ also got involved by selling cakes, and coffee and tea was provided by Christine from Ground Cafe, who can usually be found helping commuters with their caffeine needs at Liphook station on weekday mornings.
DCT fundraiser Sarah Beechcroft-Kay told The Herald: “The day would not have been possible without the help of Barnaby Gray, British Triathlon Race organiser and official, or Highfield School, who supported us with the use of their facilities.”
