NOT just one but two headteachers have been appointed by St Mary's Primary School, in Chiddingfold.

Acting head teacher Nikki Mackie and school governor Jo Jones got into gear for their new shared role by leading a community speedwatch day.

Groups of year six pupils patrolled the A283 through the village with local police officers and spoke to drivers who had been pulled over because they were speeding.

The purpose of the event was to encourage drivers to slow down and 15 motorists were stopped, which was a lower number than in previous school community speedwatch days.

St Mary's new joint headship will not become fully effective until next spring because Mrs Mackie is taking maternity leave.
