ROWLEDGE Cricket Club’s Peter Brinsden, who won the prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2016 Farnham Sports Awards, took over the management and running of the club’s youth section ten years ago when there were less than 100 members.
Today, the youth section has some 300 members and that is largely down to Peter Brinsden’s tireless work.
Rowledge CC chairman Carl Baker said: “Although we are relatively well supported by parent volunteers, much of the credit goes to Peter for his leadership, hard work and fantastic commitment.
“It takes a lot of work and the whole club owes him a huge debt of gratitude. We are all delighted that he’s won the volunteer award. It’s richly deserved.”
David Gill, chairman of Farnham Sports Council, said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of community sport in Farnham. We’re lucky in this area as we have so many fantastic sports clubs around, all run by people who give up their time and are passionate about sport. On behalf of Farnham Sports Council, we thank them all for making a difference.
“This year, Peter’s work has been specifically singled out and recognised as outstanding and he is the the deserved winner of the Volunteer Award.”
