HSDC student Federica Vazzana has finished third at the British Schools’ Gymnastics Association national trampoline finals.

The event – which took place on March 14 – saw almost 400 students from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England travel to Eastleigh.

Federica, from Selborne, is studying the Expressions course at the Alton campus.

She competed through the southern region and zonal championships to make it to the Years 7-14 girls’ category one novice finals for the second year in a row.

The nine gymnasts competed in a hard-fought final, in which Federica took third place in her disability category, losing out on second place by just 0.05 points.

Federica also helped out all day at the event on the admissions desk, signing gymnasts and teams into the competition.

Another HSDC student, Andrew Lewis, took gold in the Year 10-14 Elite group.

His coach – and mother – Lisa said: “Andrew was very much the underdog going into the finals – he had to pull out some new difficult moves just to be in with a chance.”
