Farnham Town manager Sean Birchnall was disappointed with his side’s performance after they lost 3-1 at home to Abbey Rangers in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Saturday.

Town had taken the lead through Seb Karczewski’s goal, but the visitors equalised before half-time and scored twice in the second half to claim the three points.

“It was really disappointing as we knew what to expect from Abbey,” said Birchnall.

“It’s not the first time we’ve gone 1-0 up and lost a game. We gave away some soft goals.

“As a team we didn’t deal with Abbey’s physicality.”

Next up for Farnham is a trip to lowly Guildford City on Saturday (3pm), and Birchnall is hoping for a positive reaction.

“We’re not going to hide from the Abbey defeat and are looking to put things right, starting with Guildford City this week,” he said.

“We will get the group together at training this week and work on things.

“We’ve got to focus on us and what we’re doing.

“Everything is gearing up to Saturday now and we’ll be looking to go there and get the three points.”
