SHOTTERMILL & H 6, CRANLEIGH 0

SHOTTERMILL & Haslemere maintained their 100 per cent record in the league with a six-goal demolition of bottom side Cranleigh.

The visitors actually began brightly at Woolmer Hill, but Haslemere soon settled and new signing Harry Hoadley gave them the lead.

With several players out injured, this goal settled any nerves and the home side raised the tempo, moving the ball from back to front with composure and purpose.

Two team goals, nicely finished off by Bicknell and Lorimer, put Haslemere in complete control and Chris Sturt lobbed the keeper after some sloppy defence to make it 4-0 at half-time.

The second half was not quite the same spectacle. ‘Keep ball’ was the order of the day and when chances did come, Cranleigh goalkeeper Palmer pulled off some wonderful saves.

The game was well and truly wrapped up when Adam Bicknell coolly slotted home his second and Haslemere’s fifth from ten yards. Finally, Ben Traviss robbed the goalkeeper and tapped in the sixth.

Haslemere keeper Andy Poon will have had busier days, but still had to make two decent saves at the death to keep a clean sheet.

Tim Howard’s side, with four wins out of four, travel to Surrey Sports Park this Saturday for a stiffer test against second-placed University.
