ALDERSHOT Town has appointed Steve Gibbs to the new expanded role of media and marketing manager.
The post should help the club work more closely with local schools and community groups, to increase attendances, and also – in working alongside commercial manager Mark Butler – boost sponsorship, hospitality and event income.
“There are thousands of football fans in this region who we need to convert into Aldershot Town supporters,” said Gibbs, who has been head of media since August 2013. “It’s my job to convey the passion and excitement that we all feel for the club. I was born in Aldershot and have supported the club for 28 years, so I know the area and the people who live here.
“Our current fans are the best ambassadors that any club could hope to have, so we need to work together to help spread the word.
“I would love to talk to anybody who thinks they can get involved to bring more supporters to the club, be it group leaders, businesses, schoolteachers or youth teams.
“With the club moving forward on the pitch, it’s time to also make further progress off it and build a successful future which involves everybody in Aldershot.”
Club chairman Shahid Azeem added: “I’m really pleased to welcome Steve into this new full-time role which I hope will help Aldershot Town reach out to new supporters and strengthen our commercial team. He understands the club and the town and is now able to use all his experience in press and marketing to help us achieve our long-term goals.”
Anyone wishing to be involved in the initiative can contact Steve Gibbs at [email protected] or ring 01252 320211.
