PETERSFIELD TN 1, NORTHWOOD 2 (Evo-Stik Southern League Div I Central)
PETERSFIELD lost for the seventh time in nine games in a game that contained two penalties and three red cards.
After a goalless first half, containing precious little goalmouth incident, Mark Burgess almost put Northwood in front with a back-header. The ball was hacked clear and two follow-up efforts were blocked by Ben Buckland and Harry Giles.
But the visitors did take the lead on 54 minutes. Callum Wright was fouled inside the box and Louis Stead sent Aaron Bufton the wrong way from the spot.
Eleven minutes later, Northwood doubled their lead from a free-kick. Stead’s shot found a gap in the wall and Bufton could only help the ball into the roof of the net.
Both sides were reduced to ten men late in the game. Northwood’s Frankie Jones received his second yellow card and Rams substitute Ryan Woodford got a straight red for retaliating to Jones’ foul.
Petersfield pulled one back in the third minute of injury time. Burgess was sent off for bringing down Callum Coker when he was through on goal and Dan Simmonds converted the penalty.
Coker almost equalised with a looping header as Northwood’s nine men lived dangerously in the dying moments.
