ALDERSHOT & FARNHAM 0, ANDOVER 0
ALDERSHOT & Farnham Ladies started the day five points clear at the top of the Hampshire Women’s League, but Andover, relegated from the South League last season, were much improved from when A&F beat them 3-1 in the first encounter.
Andover played some flowing hockey at the start, although failing to put the Aldershot defence under serious pressure.
A&F then began to string some good moves together and a great ball into the D from Hannah Sprake resulted in Sara Nankivell forcing a fine save from the keeper.
Andover had two decent chances at the other end, but the stalemate continued until half-time.
The second half took place mainly in the Andover half as Aldershot & Farnham threw everything at the visitors.
Evie Kenna and Nankivell threatened on the breakaway and Kenna failed to beat the keeper in a one-on-one.
A couple of short corners didn’t come off and A&F ultimately had to settle for the draw, taking comfort from the fact that Andover had very few circle entries.
Louise Laws got player of the match for her strong tackling and good attacking play.
Aldershot & Farnham are away to Trojans III this Saturday.
