THE Charles showjumping family of Bentworth, near Alton, are resuming competition after a winter break for their horses.

Alton Convent student Sienna Charles had immediate success on her ponies at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire last weekend.

The 14-year-old jumped her 148 pony, Magic Cornflakes, in the JA Winter Classic qualifier where fences start at 1m 30 in the first round. She achieved three excellent clear rounds to finish second and qualify for the final which will take place in Cheshire in July.

The following day, Sienna and Magic won the Pony Restricted Open, again jumping three clear rounds.

Sienna also competed on Billy Wish, a seven-year-old novice pony which sister Scarlett has been helping bring on. This was Sienna’s first show on Wish and she again jumped three clear rounds to come third in the JC Hickstead qualifier, thus qualifying for the Royal International at Hickstead in July. She and Billy Wish went on to win the Pony Coral qualifier the following day.

Sienna will now join father Peter Charles, brother Harry and sister Scarlett in Mijas, Spain where they will all be competing for Great Britain.
